The New Kingdom Private World of the Dead by Dr. Aidan Dodson
The New Kingdom saw the cutting and building of an extraordinary variety of tomb-chapels for the highest officials and clergymen of the state. This evening we will explore a selection of these monuments and their role a parts of the magical machinery that facilitated the transition of the dead from this world to the next.

Dr. Dodson will speak at 7:00 p.m. and there will be time after the lecture to meet with Dr. Dodson

Dr. Aidan Dodson
Dr Aidan Dodson is a Senior Research Fellow, Department of Anthropology & Archaeology, University of Bristol, and was Simpson Professor of Egyptology at the American University in Cairo for the spring of 2023. He holds degrees from the Universities of Liverpool and Cambridge, and was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London, the world's oldest archaeological society, in 2003. He is the author of over twenty books, including The Tomb in Ancient Egypt, written with Salima Ikram, published in 2008.
